For example, September 23 is day 267 in our leap-year calendar. Its matches are #267 Beautifly, #633 Deino and #999 Gimmighoul. For December 31, the remainder is 0, so its matches are #366 and #732.

Does this work for February 29?
Yes. We always use a 366-day calendar. February 29 is day 60 and has its own Pokemon matches, even in years without a leap day.
Why do I get more than one Pokemon?
The National Pokedex has more entries than there are days in a year. Repeating the cycle every 366 numbers gives each date 2 or 3 matches among Pokedex numbers 1–1,025.
What does classic launch-day mode do?
It starts the 366-day count on February 27, the original Japanese release date of Pokemon Red and Green in 1996. The matching rule stays the same; only the starting point changes.
